Weight Reduction.
I'm creating a list of stock weight parts and aftermarket lighter parts. If you have any facts or top secret info you're willing to share with your evolutionm friends on stock or aftermarket bits.
Who knows the wieght on stock:
Rims
Tires
Hood
Trunk
Brake Rotors
Bumper Supports
anything else?

Ill be the first to say that I dont think you could possibly get a lighter trunk! Seriously it is amazing. I lifted it up the first time thinking this thing will be heavy with this big wing on it. but with the carbon fiber wing and aluminum trunk it is seriously so light. I do not know why anyone would replace it. Not sure how much it weighs but I know its not to much.

Buschur's turbo back is one of the lightest on the market - 16.5 lbs just on the cat-back, saving 20 lbs over the factory setup!

also, several companies sell a lightweight battery (Including Buschur)

This is what I was afraid of and yet glad at the same time, semas liek their isn't much room for weight reduction without going full race.
What do the stock Rims Weigh? Stock Tires?
Maybe save 20 lbs across all four there with some lighter bits?

Back seat doesn't weigh very much, as I have had it out several times for stereo install. Its a light foam core with fabric shell, so you would save maybe 10 pounds... a few more by stripping the belts out too. Not worth it to me.
I yanked the spare and jack, built a 1/4" plywood "trapdoor" over the tire well, to hold up the carpet for trunk use. Of course the Kenwood 5 channel amp and JL 10" sub/box added back the weight I had saved... heh.
I believe my stock wheel/tire weighed in at 43+ pounds, but someone check me on it. The RPM2s are lighter, even at an inch wider. So spend some money on lightweight rims if you are serious, the stock ones aint all that light.
Go to a gel-cell battery, preferably inside or trunk mounted. I saved 13 #s that way, ganking that ugly big **** stock battery.

Lightweight FLywheel and Clutch? 7 lbs?
Battery Save 13lbs
Flywheel and CLutch 7 lbs
Wheels and Tires 36 lbs? ( 8lbs x 4? )
Exhuast 20 lbs?
75 lbs there.
Getting it down to 3100 would be great!
3000 just awesome!

I've been going through this in detail with my STi, and I imagine that the same areas that I've targeted should yield similar benefits with the Evo. Read through the following thread for a ton of ideas:

Good luck to the fella trying to strip 300lba from his STi and still maintain a full interior..
Lug Nuts might get you another 5 lbs ( 1.25 per wheel )
Titantium Coilovers netting 50 lbs? that's hard to chew. But would be nice. but for $6,000. hmmmm
lighter intake, exhuast manifold, pulleys would be nice.
Anyone got weights?

I believe that fella was me. My target is 250-300lbs:
Current plans are:
Wing Removal -18lbs
Spare and Jack Removal - 42lbs
Carbon Trunk -13lbs
JSpec Bumper Beams -20lbs
Lightweight Battery - 20lbs
JIC 505S Ti/Ti -20lbs
Stainless Downpipe -5lbs (drops 1 cat)
Racing Bucket Seats -45lbs
Coilover suspension -20lbs
Carbon Driveshaft -10lbs
Total loss is 213 lbs
with that in mind, 250lbs seems very possible ... 300 is a stretch, but I think it may be possible. with all the other things mentioned in that thread .. it just may be possible
A standard set of coil-overs can typically net a 20lb loss over stock ... so a titanium set should be at least 30 I imagine .. 50lbs does seem a bit high, but the full set of struts and springs on a standard WRX weighs something like 120lbs I believe .. don't quote me on that .. I pulled that off of the top of my head with some fuzzy recollection.
I have no idea what he was talking about with the 28lb lighter X-brace .. but I'm eager to find out.

Don't know on the Evo, but one of my past car work buddies stripped 40lbs off of his VR4 by replacing most of his OEs with aluminum and titanium bolts... yet another shaved off 20lbs by cutting the excess length off almost all the bolts in his car (anything protruding out the other side came off)... 20lbs of cut bolt ends in a plastics washer jug...
