I got one for Christmas. The first day it was above freezing it went on. I used alcohol to scrub down the roof. No problems so far.

The wipes are called 3M adhesive promoters (i think). I got mine at car quest paint and supply. I would look at any automotive paint store.

I don't know about you guys, but my vortex generator mounted under the moldings on the sides. Don't forget the antenna holds it too in the middle. That did most of the work in holding it secure, the tape is just like a backup.

use quality 3m tape and heat it with a heat gun during installation and you wont have issues also use a wider strip

TIP:

I was in ur shoes when i got mine, was affraid that it might fell off but then thought well the weather strip and antena will hold it, then contacted the seller (derek from rexpeed) and told him i don;t think the 3m tape will hold but he assured me that it would. so this is what i did, to be sure that it will hold, i layed the two main strips on the back and layed some more lil strips in between (about 2'' long) and left the VG for few days sitting in my room. this way u assure that one side of the tape is very well mounted onto the VG, then peel off the other end of the tape and mount it to ur car (ofcourse after cleaning the roof, taking off the antena, and removing the weather strip (be sure to take ur time when taking that Bit$# out, because i broke one of my weather strip's clips)

what i noticed is at room temp, the tape doesn;t look like it will hold but honestly, on my car now it feels like it was crazy glued. so goodluck and hope this helps.
