I have my a paint gun and rebuild cars but all of my friends and I have tinted taillights. We just add black base to the clear and sand down the actual taillights then spray on. After the first coat if its not dark enough we add a little more. Good luck with your tint!

I tinted my lights with a film. Here is a company that has them set up for you. Just apply and trim and your done. It at least gives you a idea what the tint is like. http://www.decalfx.com/smoked_tail_light_film.html

Be careful with the tint films from ebay. I had a bad experience. Ordered what was supposed to be a lamin x light tint film for my headlights. What I got was a dark film that certainly wasnt lamin x. Put it on to see if I likes it but after a couple of months I was seriously sick of it as it was too dark and affected my light output of my headlights. Decided to paint my housing black instead. Went to talk it off and one side came off fine but it totally destroyed my other lens.

Thanks to evodave who had a spare lens lying around. So this is my warning to all of you. Not saying all of the tints on ebay are crap but I just felt the need to give you guys a heads up.

I used lamin x to cover the rear lens. No issues, but that crap is expensive.
