Increasing Tank Capacity

How can I increase the gas capacity of my Evo and retain full functionality?

In other words, a 20+ gallon tank that:

1) Is as safe or safer than stock.
2) Retains stock fuel gauge functionality and accuracy.
3) Retains stock fill point functionality.

Put another way, just like stock, except 7 more gallons per tank. I drive about 50 miles a day and getting gas every 3 days is getting really old; it would be nice to get gas like once a week.

If you have the urge to tell me to buy another car (i.e., a Prius), please save yourself the typing.

Maybe you should just... err
lol
I think evos have always had a small tank, I'm pretty sure a bigger one won't fit, or at least that no one has made one anyway.. The market can't be too big on that, or at least people willing to spend the money for it
It wouldn't increase your gas mileage at all, or save you any money.. Just the inconvenience of going to the gas station more often, which can't be worth the hundreds it probably cost if even possible

I think if the Mitsubishi could've fit a bigger tank in the factory spot, they would've. The space you have to work with isnt much, hence the small tank. Your only option would be trunk mounted fuel cell. The only way to not use your whole trunk would be to research if you could add a small (5-7 gallon) fuel cell while keeping your stock tank. Kind of like an inline reserve tank.

Or like me spin a bearing in your motor on a sunday and have to buy a beater on monday cause I don't have the 9k to fix my motor.

I went on craigslist and found a 91 Honda Accord for 1100, paid cash for it, gets 510 miles to a tank of gas since I drive 60 miles a day to & from work.

trust me it's worth the sacrafice to buy a beater and to know that when a Sti pulls up behind you in your beater and wish for the love of God that you had your Evo so you could beat him it's worth the sacrafice.

That is so true! I am an older guy so I am sure some young guys don't mess with me for that reason. But in the 2 plus years I have had the car only one loud muffler Firebird has actually challenged me in my IX. He did it at a stop light on a State Highway in my home town where the local Popo regularly hide, so I let him run. Was not worth the potential ticket. On my 08 Hayabusa, nobody EVER
messes with me. In my 3.8 liter pick-up everybody is a macho hero!

I'd like this too. Some weeks I drive a lot and have to fill up more than once a week. I hate that. I like to be able to just fill up on the same day of the week.
