Great, I can't wait for a V6 in the Evo. While they are at it, maybe they can increase the weight to 3500+ lbs too. And don't forget to build it in the Normal, Illinois plant. That would be swell...

This goes along with what I've read about Mitsubishi's plan to have the US Evo diverge from the rest of the world's Evos. Makes me glad I have the Evo VIII. I've also read that the Evo VIII will be the last Evolution, giving way to a new car (poss. the redesigned one for the 2007 MY). Either way, I'm happy to have the VIII. Now if that next-gen Skyline GT-R would just get here... (I know the G35 is the Skyline - I am talking about the GT-R).

If there's no Evo 9 offered and they try and stick us with a mitsubish colt or some crap then **** it.....I'd buy a STI instead...at least it'd be REAL
Skyline GT-R would mean I wouldn't even have to consider other cars....I'd buy that hands down in one second...because I know Nissan isn't like Mitsubishi and wouldn't put GT-R on some POS G35 with a Turbo kit.

The problem is that we DO buy watered-down crap (ie Civic Si vs. Type R, etc.). People will be MORE willing to buy an "Evo" that has a V6 and amenities. Just not our kind of people. For whatever it's worth, I don't care when companies try to cater to the masses since it always inspires the TVRs of this world to make truly outrageous cars. And for the few companies that understand what we want (ie AMG Mercedes), they are making more money than they can count. Maybe Mitsu will wake up. Nissan did.

so little faith in mitsubishi. i seriously doubt they will move away from the evo heritage. everyone who did a review and whined that they wanted leather, or better stereo, a softer ride etc. have no clue what the evo is, was or is supposed to be.
if they do make a 6 cylinder (which i doubt they will) it had better be an inline. if they due, it sure won't be used on the wrc circuit, unless they've come up with some insane technological breakthrough 6.
i'm waiting patiently for the evo ix, with a better clutch.

Also, Nissan was able to wake up because Carlos Ghosn was able to sell a huge amount of non-core assets Nissan had and use a good portion of that cash for product development. Of course Ghosn also made the excellent decision of killing the Altima development at the time and use what was supposed to become the next Maxima for the U.S. market instead.
Unfortunately for , it did not have that sudden cashflow and had to continue with its existing plans. I think we are extremely lucky we got the EVO. I also think that will improve their quality, and even though we disagree with their design direction, I hope their sales increase. Why? Because then will have more cashflow and it will be more likely that we will continue to get high-performance niche-vehicles.
Sorry about the long post

Next gtr power plant
The next GTR will be a twin turbo version of the 3.5 vq engine. It is currently being develpoed by Cosworth and is expected to produce 440 hp. The engine will use magnetic valves before the turbochargers to divert gasses around them in certain circumstances to reduce emissions and speed cat light off. I read this imformation in one of the big 3 magazine issues on the news stand now. The car will most likely be sold as an Infiniti in'07. For all of you people saying you would buy one i will agree with you but remeber it's going to be close to 60k.

I was really disappointed when I heard of the RB26DETT's demise.

I wonder how autoweek get this info and published it. I don't think Mitsu announced any updates about upcoming Evo. Are they just make it up and wait for Mitsu to respond?
Skyline GTR? 60k? Oh, well. Better start saving the money now.

I would spend $60K tomorrow for a GT-R with a 4.0 V8 or a 3.5 TT V6. No problem. Everything I've read points to the 350Z as Nissan's "halo car" and the GT-R would fill that niche with Infiniti. Remember that the Skyline is here already as an Infiniti, so the GT-R would slot right in. Maybe even called the G35 GT-R to keep the name recognizable to consumers. Also, not many people would spring for a $60K Nissan. Badge snobbery and all that... That is why Honda created Acura to sell the NSX. Everywhere else it's a Honda NSX. The future looks good no matter what Mitsu does.
