I may be trying some overlays as well. I have an 06 MR SE and i was wondering if pillars/ shifter bezels/ center consoles/ any dash pieces, are shared with any other models (obvioulsy the other ix models) and where is a good place to source these spare parts i could use for molding purposes.

Aside from the color, most of the trim pieces are shared with the lancer.

On a different note I would appreciate it if people would post some pictures. I know there are more than a few who have attempted it. I may purchase a yard of that material from the bimmer forum which was linked earlier in this thread and give it a try. It would be nice to see some peoples finished wrapping jobs

rocknamx- yeah that seems simpler though I wonder how hard it would be to make a mold of a part and use it to do an all carbon piece. Weight savings would be negligible due to resin control issues in awkward spaces but the cool factor would increase. Any thoughts for possible molds and how do the overlays come out?

cool thanks heel2toe thats what I thought and it should be much easier to find some extra a,b,c pillars from a wrecked lancer. Though so many people seem to be killing their Evos too. I wish it wernt so fun to go fast and sometimes sideways. We would probably all be better off. haha.

Anyway I got carbon fiber raw cloth from us composites and they have a good selection of resins or epoxies (whichever you so choose. Their carbon/ kevlar colored fabrics are sick too. I made a wind turbine out of both one side was regular carbon 2x2 and the other was carbon/ kevlar blue 2x2. I dont remember the rules on links here so just google it. very easy to find.

I kept the leftovers which is a yard or so of each. Unfortunately all the MR carbon is 1x1 weave so it will not match. I am contemplating just pulling the stock pieces and wrapping some lancer pieces and see how it goes. If i screw up i still will have the stock stuff.
