my code was attached to the keychain of one of the sets of my keys.. its was stamped on a tiny rectangle of metal and attached to the loop of one of my key fobs.

Update:
I got the 4 digit code.
The 5 digit code that some of you are referring to is not the Immobilzer Overide Code. That 5 digit code is the key code. It's for getting a duplicate key.
The Overide Code is for emergency situations where you need to access and move the car with a key that doesn't have an active transmitter. Waiting to order a new key with transmitter from Mitsu can take a couple of days. Not feasible in an emergency. Even then you'd still have to program it with the other factory key you have available. So if you have nothing you're stuck. Well not if you have a blank key cut by a locksmith providing you give him the 5 digit Key Code.
The new blank cut for your car can now be used in conjunction with the 4 digit Overide Code.

You probably have to wait for a new key to be ordered with the chip in it, then they will cut it for you. I bet they are $30 a piece or more. If you just need a key to get in the doors/trunk/etc. then they can cut you a non-ignition key without a problem.
