I/C spray auto function

I reckon the USDM evo 8 has the intercoolers spray as well? well there is manual and auto mode. Just wondering whether you guys know how the auto function works? Is based on a timer or oil temp? and how many secs does it spray and at what intervals. I have seen some guys hook it up to a cooler box with ice water and all...

It will come on after the I/Cooler heat soaks, to prevent deition. i found this after about 4 runs on the dyno back to back. the airfuel went up to about 13-1 before the water spray came on. its a safe guard not for performance.. but CUSCO has a controller for the evo.. i have one on my car. it works by RPM or pulse pretty cool if you ask me... it made about 18HP to the wheels when set for RPM

Things used to determine when it sprays:

Coolant temp
Throttle position
Car Speed
Intake air flow

Thanks for the info guys. My manual is in Japanese heh. I know Pivot has a water spray controller too other than cusco. Dont know whether u guys get this brand over there. Other than that, iam sure programmable coms like hks V pro and Motec definitely can control the water spray auto functions. For u track and AutoX guys: have u ever considered installing another nozzle to spray the oil cooler? I live on the equator so things get quite hot and humid and my oil temp runs very high after a few laps
