motortrend HKS evo review!!
hey guy idk if any of u have the new motor trend(october 2003) but they did a test on the hks evo and so far the numbers are as follows:
HKS:
0-60 4.5 sec.
1/4 mile 12.80@109.33 mph
braking 60-0 105 ft.
slalom 71.4 mph
skidpad, (g's) 0.94
STOCK:
"" 5.4 sec.
""14.09@94.05
""111 ft.
""68.9 mph
""0.88
i think hks did a very good job for 15000 dollars, mods are as follows:
racing suction intake kit
HKS GT2835 B.B. turbo
hks external wastegate
17.4 psi-boost
custom SS manifold
special pipework
HKS r-type FMIC
larger fuel injectors
F-con V PRO
EVC boost controller
heavy duty head gasket
hks ssqv BOV
on chassis dyno it made 280 HP to the wheels, exaust is through Hi- power cat-back SS exaust sys.
with custom 4.5 inch tip
rolling stock is as follows:
17X8.5 inch Advan RCII wheels wrapped n yokohama AO32 R 245/40ZR17's, over all it costed 15,000 dollars, i think its awesome i will try to post pics, enjoy!!

They must be terrible drivers..getting a 14.0 @ only 94mph and only a 12.8 with an Evo with that many mods.
$15,000 in mods and only 280hp!? That isn't good at all for those mods. Must be a typo

Yeah, for $15,000 I'd expect to see a XEDE on it.
That's a horrible return for that kind of money. They should have upped the boost to 24 psi and see what it would do.

15k is a lot, but HK$ is expensive becuase of it's durability. Also this car is not just about going faster in the 1/4 mile. They imporved it's handling, grip, and braking. It's lighter which means possibly improved gas mileage as well. I can't believe how much wasted bandwidth and space people blow hard about 1/4 mile stuff in relation to the Evo. and I thought the evo would remain in high regards with owners to use it where it shines at road courses and rally events. Leave it to the F&F/NASCAR only fans to reduce it into a 1/4 mile or only turn left type vehicle.
Surprising how similar Nascar and F&F folks are. Both narrowminded and have to reduce such a competent vehicle to such unworthy events that don't even require using the steering wheel. or only turning it one direction.
the 1/4 such a pathetic measurment to use all alone. If that's all you use to measure a car by, there are dozens of 8 second $10,000 cars out there. Go down to any 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile track on a test and tune and I'm sure you'll find the car of your dreams to live a 1/4 mile at a time by.
ALthough, there power gains do seem less than up to full potential, I would hope for closer to 325 - 350 whp. Otherwise, they've imporved nearly every aspect of the car, but for proably what is more worth about $10,000.
