I change my oil every 2500 miles, Mobile 1 synthetic. Have 10,000 miles on this biaatch and have not had any problems what so ever. My clutch still works great, tires has alot of tread left and I drive it hard. I lucked out, I got a good EVO.

You sure about that? I'm pretty sure it's just regular Mobil 1 with no additives.

OEM oil is regular Mobil 1 10w30 with no additives. Change it whenever you like.

No, but seriously... how much of this is specualtive information in this thread, and how much of it is based on fact? Is there any real "right" way to do it?

You should change the oil at 1000 miles, using semi synch oil 10W40 (this is the running in mileage)
Then again at 4500 miles changing to fully synch oil of 0W40 (very thin!)

thats when you will also start feeling the Evo pull even more!!!

Unless of course you live somewhere near the surface of the sun like Arizona...you know, where that 0W40 will burn up quicker than Rollaway's 6th clutch.

I think Ill stick with 10W30.

I guess the US evo is different to the UK one, cos you should NOT be using the 10W30 oil, but you all seem to be using it on this thread
In the UK, we are using at a minimum the 10W40 oil

I have seen general purpose magnetic sleeves you put over your oil filter (can't remember where I saw them). I don't know how well they work.

First oil change was at about 2500 miles...change it every 5000 miles, just like the manual says...any more often than that and you are wasting $$$...
