30K service estimate of $800?!
SO i called my friendly local dealer today for an inquiry on how much they charged for a 30k service on my 06 evo 9. The guy seemed professional at first. He put me on hold and said he would look up the cost of labor and all the parts needed, so i thought i would get an accurate assessment. He jumps back on the phone after 15 seconds and says $800 even after tax. And he said to see him personaly and not to talk to anyone else. This struck me as odd so I proceeded to call around and got quotes from 400-500.
Why would they want 300 more other than the guy might want to pocket some?
Anyone have similar experiences? help?

wors thing you can do is have a dealer swervice any of your cars, they are there to make money on you of course is a business, but the way they conduct those 30k 60k 100k miles services are a joke
i really get sick when i see them wanting to charge a couple hundred bucks for mile interval services why because they dont do nothing

You'd be better off making a trip down to SoCal to any of the SoCal Mitsu dealerships. They charge WAAAY less than that, so if you were planning on a trip down here, that's your best bet.

I would def like to do it my self, but when i got the car i had the option to get an extended warrenty to 100k from carmax and all the services have to be done by a ASE certified mech otherwise i just wasted 20 bucks a month for 4 years.
Im not sure what the quote included. The guy just shot me a price and I just got a bad feeling by it

Hey Smike, I only have 15k miles but just hit 3 years. I did all drivetrain fluids at about 13k miles and am probably doing them again after my next track day.
You think I should do the belts, even though they look like they are in great shape, since it has been 3 years? Or is that more a mileage thing?

the timing belts a mileage thing, but the other accessory belts it couldnt hurt to change if they are squeeking or acting up. if not, no just leave them alone. id change the timing belt no later then 65-70K. Id also change all the pulleys when you do the timing belt and tensioner to be on the safe side.
EDIT: also the water pump. as for the pulleys im referring to ( tensioner pulley, idler pulley, etc)
