I had a 94 3000GT VR4. It was a great car, very stylish, adustible spoiler, etc. but became too much of a maintenance headache. Then i got a 98 supra... The car looks like pure sechs but had NO cabinet room, bad visibility, and was terrible to drive in anything but a clear day. So then i picked up the EVO and havent looked back. Its such an awesome car all around, it really is hard to beat. The GTR looks freaking amazing, but i wouldnt buy one now, maybe in a few years when they come down in price a bit

HAHA... I also have a 2006 Civic EX4dr. besides the 2003 Evo I just bought...
I had an '03 Evo about 3 years ago but sold it as it was $20k and I didn't feel it was really worth that $$$. I bought a S R T 4 neon and loved the bottom end torque and the ability to squeal the tires in 2nd gear! I sold that and bought my 3rd or 4th LS1 Camaro and quickly modded it up to 392whp spinning the tires until 60 mph (M6) and 114mph quarter miles. Fun car but my kids could not see out and they didn't get a door (pain in the *** for me).
So I'm back to a budget '03 Evo--- gonna leave it stock and just drive it as my payment is only $172/mo. Ins. is only $46/mo.
I feel better about investing in this evo than my last one... as it was only $9900...

Yeah he did. But the 350Z he got is pretty sweet, too.

Power: Great HP stock and with bolt-ons it'll pull on many cars 2, 3 times its price
Handling: Not even arguable to most cars in and above its price range
Comfort: Livable with roomy interior and decent storage space
Luxury: Only lacking feature but being an enthusiast the only luxury I need a Momo steering wheel, Recaro seats, and a manual transmission!
Looks: I'd have to say the Evo looks aggressive but a bit bland stock - lower + some wheels should do the trick. Not satisfied? Throw an SE lip on and you're set!

I think of this topic daily but just like all of you there is nothing better for the price, plus it will be paid off come October. I have always wanted a Porsche but I won't buy anything where the average aftermarket exhaust is $1000+. I was seriously considering a Pontiac G8 GXP but after seeing that a replacement alternator for a 2000's GTO is almost $1000 alone forget that. So I will keep the evo, I don't drive it everyday anyway maybe I will just replace my DD with somthing more exciting.

I work at a Porsche dealer, and when I decided to buy a new car I bought the 9. Could have gotten a nice used Porsche. If I'd have waited for the prices to tank (I had no clue that would happen when I bought it) then I would have thought more seriously about Porsche. They do handle great, but I'm sold on Evo's.
Funny thing though, when a hard core Porsche customer came in, he does a few track days a year, I told him what I bought and he just laughed and said "I just get the hell out of the way when I see those!" I thought he was being an ***, but he was serious. So, which one of you guys blew by this guy at mach 1 up here at PIR within the last year????
