my body shop fixed his first evo wing and I was there last night for the 2nd breakage.
i've had evo 8 and 9 wings in my hands and the 8s are definitely stronger in the center.

I've heard of this happening on numerous occasions.
Mitsubishi didn't design the wing to "look pretty", it actually functions. I wouldn't be suprised if the IX wings are weaker. It's the nature of car manufacturing. When new models come out, improve in some areas, and cut corners in other where it's deemed not important. They obviously cut corners making the IX wings as you can tell visually, who say's they didn't when building the center sections? All carbon fiber isn't created equally.
I've heard of people seeing their wings starting to bow, but not quite break.
Whether it's had previous damage, who knows. But a wing breaking from high speeds isn't all that unbelievable. Just my thoughts.

I have a question about the rear wing. Sorry, I couldn't find the answer, and I didn't want to start a thread for that question. I've noticed that some rear wings have carbon fibre on the inner vertical struts on the wing, and ive also seen some where its just the matching color of the car. Why is that? Where they produced like that, or are they knock off wings?
Examples (I took these pics off of this site):
(Without carbon fibre)
(With )
Sorry again OP for the random question in your thread.
Thank you to whoever answers my question

carbon fiber on the inside of the rear wing is specific to the VIII's, and the color matched wings came on the IX's. came from mitsubishi that way, no knock offs.
