Question would you buy a salvage evo

is this worth it? first off i dont own an evo yet but i love the cars, and i am very interested in a particular one. ive found a 2006 evolution ix for about 13.5k. it has a salvage title, it was hit on the rear quarter panel, and is supposedly compleatly repaird. the car only has 9k miles!!! and is 100% stock.

also by the 4th i will be able to buy this car straight up cash, and this is about the only evo i can get because i have no credit and no co-signer, and dont realy want to spend any more money than that anyway. also i realy want this 9 over an 8.

I think i should do it, but what do you guys think?

I got my evo REAL cheap, even cheaper than that with a clean title but was rear ended. Test drive it and beat the living **** out of it, if nothing makes weird noises your golden. I got mine then then t case blew up after the highway drive home.
Don't even go easy because the dude selling the car is in it with you.

It is worth it but make sure you can get it titled in your state as most states require you to have a rebuilders licence and it is almost impossible to get it titled with out that but if it has a rebuilt title then you are in with no problem usally straight, salvage title cars are worth less than a rebuilt title car so if that has a straight salvage brand with no rebuilt status then he is asking way to much in my opinion.

i personally would never get a salvaged car because i am always weary of how good of a job was done with the repairs. if you ever decide to sell it that "salvage" drives many people away and the resale value plummets. you may think that you will never want to sell your evo, but you never know .

Just because AMS can do it and make it worth while doesn't mean everyone and their mother can. I wouldn't buy a salvage anything. Plus if you ever file an Insurance claim on a total loss you won't get Dick.

its just words on a title! i own a salavge title 93 rx7 and it runs and drives perfect! all you have to do is drive it if it drives fine and looks fine then chances are it is fine! just take it to a body shop and a frame shop and make sure everything is squared off first

It depends what gave the car the "salvage" title in the first place. It could mean that it was stolen, stripped of say the headlights, seats, wheels, and brakes, wing, etc, and that car could be considered "salvaged". I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat. Accident salvage is an entirely different animal, in my opinion.

The biggest question you need to ask yourself is do you plan on keeping it for a long time? If so, then as long as it was fixed correctly, and as said above you take it for a spin and nothing strikes you as "not right", then go for it. Just bear in mind that whatever you save now, you'll lose when you try to sell it, not to mention how much harder it'll be to sell.

I'd love to get one with a branded title so I don't feel so bad making it a dedicated race car.
