Need help with driveability issue

When cruising at any speed the car seems to slow down go back to speed slow etc. During this time MPH and RPM stay the same, as well as boost level (vac). Every once in a while it will throw a P1033 and p1034 code.

Are our cars that sensitive to the o2 sensor that it would cause driveability issues?

To better clarify the issue.....when cruising it feels as if I start to hydroplane.

Thanks.

I'm just taking a shot in the dark because not a lot of people have posted yet. It sounds like a very annoying issue, I'm obviously no mechanic...

Possibly a clutch issue? Either worn clutch or failing pressure plate. I would assume if this were the case that when the car slowed down the rpms would spike up. So this is likely wrong.

Definitely replace your o2 sensor. Our cars are sensitive, that likely isn't the problem though... I'm saying replace it so it doesn't cause further problems and you want to fix any problems you know about.

It could be any number of things. Have you noticed it only happens under certain conditions? Do you lose power when it happens or can you accelerate through it?

Small list of possibilities: Fuel pump, fuel relay, injectors, fuel filter, air intake, maf... any number of sensors...

My car does this for about the first mile of driving then it is okay. No codes but then I have all the codes shut off, he hee. The car speeds up and slows down so I put the cruise control on (I have cruise installed) and let it and the engine fight it out.

I'd guess that what is happening with my car is the ECU is trying to go into feed back mode from the oxygen sensor but the slow responding sensor causes it to drop out. Then it tries again. After a bit of driving it is fine. If your car does this on the highway you probably need a new sensor.

Thanks for the input. I tried to replace the sensor, but that SOB is tough to get to. May hae to suck it up and take it to the shop.

Thanks man. I have pretty much relegated myself to the fact the o2 sensor needs to be replaced. Gonna try to get it taken care of today and see if it makes any difference

Okay....O2 sensor has been replaced. Issue still lingers, and is driving me nuts. I am not loosing power when it happens and I can actually throttle thru it.

Any more ideas?

no, it is that instant feeling of resistance on the driveline.
