Is there a trick to wiring the defi D egt?
I recently bought one used (the old amber display that was discontinued) off a member on here and cannot get any response from the probe to the gauge. I can get illumination and what not and I feel like I've tried every combo trying to wire the damn thing. There are 4 wires for power... Red, black, white, orange.
Now before I assume the the egt probe is bad and try to get my money back, is there any trick to wiring this thing? Looking to get this resolved this evening.

Red = switched 12 volts (like from cig lighter, or radio) - gets 12 V when key is "On"
Black = Ground (try to attach it directly to the chassis)
White = Signal Wire (should come from the probe)
Orange = Illumination switched power (like when you turn your headlights on) - Most people just tie this one to the Red wire so it's always lit.
Hope that helps.

that does help, thank you. The only thing is, the white wire does not come from the probe. the probe has its own connector that goes into the gauge. the power is separate.

Ah... without doing a search on the specific wiring diagram for this gauge, I'd guess it's either a signal output (for data logging?) or a different color lighting perhaps? I know that the Prosport gauges allow you two different backlight colors (like Amber or White) depending on which wires you hook up.

Defi gauges dont change colors, at least i know the high end gauges dont

Sounds like dead probe. Defi's are usually easy to install. Look to figure out what the white wire is for. Good luck.
But I agree, should've saved your money and when for a wb.
