yeah the flipping up is a common problem, although as it seems some people have had no issues. My car regularly sees speed in access of 140 MPH, I will not take the chance. Better safe than sorry IMHO,

+1 on areocatch pins and using a dremel. Also, I would recommend researching working with CF and fiberglass, especially grinding. Can be nasty stuff for your respiratory system.

by "track" I assume you mean autocross and road race? Not drag strip?

I've made numerous passes down the 1/4, two autocrosses, a rallycross, a road race, many road trips, and daily driving to work in the time I've had it.

well, I just meant any "track" event where the vehicle would see high speeds/ cornering forces, whether it be rally cross, autox, road race, drag race, etc.. that puts stresses on the car that a dd car wont see.

Ya, it may very well be my latch. The thing is I bought this car and it looked like it was involved in a slight fender bender. I could tell because the front bumper is sligihtly tweaked closer to one headlight than the other. no other structural damage was done other than bumper scuffed.. Previous owner was from San Fransisco-- so my guess is someone didnt know how to drive a manual from a stop up Van Ness st,hehee. Anyhow the latch might be tweaked as well, but For me its a cheaper fix to use hood pins instead of getting a new hood which is what it actually needs if I want to use the stock latch.
I just need it to be safe, as Im builiding a track car not a show car.
