Question Any one Tried the RS trunk springs for their CF Trunk?? If not, what are people using

Hi guys-

I have a CF trunk and I took out the 2 spring rods that allow the trunk to spring up because it doesn't have a wing now and the cf trunk just springs up really fast.. so now the trunk just pops and I have to manually hold it up every time.. Any solutions to this? I would think the RS would have a different spring setup since it doesn't have the wing.. I realize I could make a prop rod, but really didn't want to have to do that.. Please let me know the solutions you guys are using since there is a lot of CF trunks out there, thanks!!

I used the RS trunk springs and they worked fine. The hood dampers, mentioned above, would work as well.

those there? do the ones for the regular lancer work for the evo? Please let me know where you bought them and how much? do you drill into the carbon?

Also, any one else that has experiences with the RS oem trunk springs or another method.. please chime in.. thanks

those are it. I ordered mine straight from redline. you drill a little hole and pop a rivet into it.

Yes, they are different.. totally different part numbers.. They were around $75 dollars.. RussellM on here sells them.. He mentioned they have different spring rates..

Quickevo, they install just like stock.. Maybe i will take pictures when i receive them next week!

I know they install like stock, but how'd you get them on there? There's a tool you can use, but it's a Mitsu part number and it's over $100.

I tried everything from screwdrivers to vise grips and nothing seems to get enough torque to twist the bars around the brackets...

A how to would be helpful.

Sorry I can't be of more help on exactly how I did it. It was just a lot of trial and error. I used a 12" long, 5/16 flat-blade Craftsman screwdriver to twist the springs into place. Like I said, it was just trial and error. They definitely don't just pop in there.
