Sounds like the clutch is going out. The clutch hydraulics on this thing are self adjusting. The only time they would need adjusting is if someone played with it and didn't set it right.
Not sure if there's an inspection hole for the TOB clip, it would be a round rubber plug on the bottom of the bell housing, about 1.5" in diameter.
You can't replace the TOB without pulling the trans, and you might as well replace the clutch while you're in there if you have it apart. If it's worn past 1/2 way.
Another thing that can mess up clutches is if there's a floor mat under the pedal, keeping it from pushing all the way. I've actually seen people put double floor mats, and both are slid up out of position and under the pedal.
