idle issues HELP.

ok. im having a hell of a time dialing in this car. its still on the stock ecu. the other day i was letting the car warm up. about 10 min later im getting ready to leave and all of a sudden idle starts to creep up. from 1k to about 1500. so i waited to see if it would drop back down. it then started to continue on its way up all the way to 2500 rpm and it just held there. so i shut the car down. i looked over every sensor and the TB. everything was plugged in. i do not have any vac leaks as i checked are redid all the lines.

so i started the car and again back to 2500rpm. so i goto see if the TB is closed or open. witch it was closed fully. witch i found odd that it was still running. again i went through all the vac lines and sensors. i pulled the hole car apart. i took the maf out. cleaned it with maf cleaner and then put the car together. all day yesterday the car was fine. no issues and it was idling at 1krpm like normal.

then today i go for a drive. and when i get into town the idle starts going crazy. jumping from 1k to 2500/3k and back down to 1k. rapidly. over and over. so now im at a loss. im trying to get the car ready for the up coming weekend so i can drive it. but its been nothing but a headache at this point. can anyone help me plz.

the car has a hypertune tb on the car.

Ok because I had this problem also but it was due to my aftermarket intake tube. Recalibrating the MAF fixed it

^1 that was my best guess.. do the test -- get a stethoscope, put the steth on the iac, turn the ignition to on.. if you can hear it fairly loudly it's probably shot (that's how you test it right?!).

Look for the IAC, its basically a stepper motor with a cone that moves in and out into the seat of the idle circuit on the throttle body. If you look at that cone, it should be held in place by three grooves, and there should be three "Teeth" that fit into the groove.

When it gets worn, those teeth are gone and it can rotate. If it can rotate, it can't move in and out when the stepper motor rotates.

Dan check the tension on your throttle cable. Mine did this after I did the head work a while back. It was too tight. I loosened the two bolts on the slide brackets and gave a little slack to the cable and all was well
