Exclamation carbon fiber sun damage

im starting to get some clear coat flakeing on the corner of the carbon wing. is there some sort of protectant i can use on it? would wax hurt it? also if it gets real bad would i be able to just sand it down and spray some clear on it?

You should always keep the wing, and the whole car for that matter, waxed to help prevent sun damage.

600 or 800 grit wet to sand off the clear coat. oh dont make my mistake. I think i used 300 grit and sanded straight into the carbon fiber on my old cf hood for my integra. It sucked!! I was in a rush so i guess try and take your time lol.

There is many topics on this if you search, as mentioned, a light wet sand and clear is your best bet before it gets to bad.

I believe there is a "how -to" on here on how you do it. I just completed mine alomost 2 months ago and it still looks good. All you basically need is different grit sand paper from 80 - 2000, painters tape, a can of clear coat with UV protectant and allot of time. I completed mine while it was still on the car, I just taped and newspapered evertything around the wing.

dont start with 80 if your just doing the clear coat.. Thats what i did =) it was a big mistake and a waste of a cf hood hahaha.

For just the clear, u can do 600 if your impatient or 800 if u have time to burn. Then if u u step it up to mabye a thousand u will be set. No point in 2000.. 2000 doesnt do ****. You can sand your windshield with 2000 and still see through it clear. (dont try it =) But those guys that do professional paint jobs will do it.

ya i buffed the carbon with some poly wax and the small part where the clear had come off sure enough looked just as good as the part that still had clear on it.
so ile probaly just wait till it starts to look bad then sand it down with some 600 or high # sand paper then buff the heck out of it ile see i might shoot some clear idk what will happen once its sanded
