rain makes the car stutter and rough idle?

I have read through some of the posts but none of them really match what im expieriencing. After it rains hard and my car sits in the driveway, I will go to drive it and it bucks really hard. If I hit the gas all the way to the floor, it will buck for a second and then shoot off like a rocket. It will continue to do this for awhile. Also at idle it will drop and sputter at like 500rpms.

Any ideas?

Mods are Hks intake, megan tbe, hallman boost controller at 19lbs.

Its also happened a few times after I have washed it!

hmmm thats wierd. I am wondering if its the air filter pulling in some water or something? I have that stupid foam filter on there. It cam with the car, otherwise I wouldnt be running that filter.

It just gets me worried. This is my daily and if something goes wrong, I would be sol!

Sounds like water is hitting your air filter. Next time it rains hard, check the filter for water. You said you had a foam filter so it might be that water is trapped in that filter. I would grab a cone filter kit if I was you as water in the system = bad. You really don't want corrosion next.

Ive had simillar issues...and my car was bought used(17k) w/o a hood bonnet or hood shield. I turn off the car through a car wash and have weird throtle response in heavy rain....i guess mitsu had it right in the first place.
I suspect the intake is pulling in water and screwing up the process.

What hood are you running? Stock?
What plug cover are you using?
Sounds like plug leads are getting damp/wet.

I would look there first.

Maybe on a dry day you can try and recreate the problem by getting certain parts wet with a hose?

Sorry for the hold up guys. Yea, I have the stock shield on the hood. Its a stock hood too. Stock plug cover also. It is acting just like it did whenever my camshaft pos. sensor cracked. It just bogs really bad when I try to drive it. I was in class last night and it was fine on the way home. The drive there though, it did this for the whole 10 min drive to school. It does it off and on, until something gets dried out.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Moisture hitting the MAF, spark leads/coil, or other sensor. In heavy rain or humidity my Evo did the same. Once it was dry out again, the rougher idle went way.
