Guys, there's a detailing forum on this site. Why not post there and get more streamlined info?
Leather care can be a complex topic. Dealing with just the steering wheel simplifies the issue. Essentially, there's no need for protectants/cleaners on the wheel. It just needs to be clean. I posted a cleaning method earlier in the thread. When dirt mixes with oils on the skin, and the residue from the crap most folks apply as a protectant, the described effect comes about. Keep the wheel clean, perhaps wipe it down with a lightly damp MF when cleaning the interior, and that's it. There isn't much to it.
