M3 back to Evo IX? Am I crazy?!
Ok, so here’s the deal. I need honest feedback because I really think I just might be going insane.
I currently drive a 06' 6spd M3 with about 34k miles on it. I love the car and I have wanted this car since 2001, its absolutely gorgeous! After owning 2 06' Evos (IX SE & IX MR), yes 2 Evo's, I was finally in a position to buy my dream car, the M3. Well, since owning this car, I have realized that it just doesn’t do it for me like I thought it would, or for that matter, like the Evo's did. The M3 is fast, and the Evo IX was just stupid quick, but more importantly than all that, the Evo's felt as though they were made specifically for me, I just cant seem to get that comfortable driving feeling, position, sensation that I had with the Evo’s. They feel button down and connected to my brain and the road in ways the M3 leave me wanting.
So at this point, I am seriously considering an Evo IX (if I can find a good one) and selling the M3. Now being in my mid 30's and single, everyone has said the M3 is me, why did you even ever buy the Evo??? They just don’t understand, but I would hate to have to go back and constantly justify my purchase, but at the same time, living my life for others and not self isn’t satisfying...

you now I had the opportunity to trade the evo 9 for an e46 M3, which I also like a lot, but I am glad I didn't, your post pretty much says it all, the m3 will never feel the same as an evo, I've driven both, I chose the evo.

...but if you decide to keep the m3, you could get some nicer wheels the ones that come in the competition package for instance, along with the alcantara steering wheel my uncle owns a 2006 m3 competition package, and we have to be honest here the car looks awesome!

Very good points on all the above, i guess the biggest thing with me is the respect you get in this M3. Considering all, it feels good. Again being in my mid 30's, i got the impression or feeling, whether valid or not, that i was being looked at and judged a certain way when in the Evo.

Do what you think is right for you,and foreget what anyone else says.I had two Evo,s,a new 03 (5spd) and traded it in to Medina Mitsubishi for an 06 BR350.I really miss the BR.I bought an 07 335i coupe,6spd with the sport package.Besides some beautiful cosemetics the only power adders are a turbo tuner and a dual cone intake.Like i said i really miss my BR350 until i get in the 335.Its good for very high 12,s and 0-60 in the low 4,s as compared to the BR,s 12.5 at 112,and 0-60 at 3.9 right from the dealer. But i love the rear wheel drive as compared to the awd Evo.Believe it or not i can drive the twisties much faster with the 335 compared to the AWD Evo,s.They are two completely different cars,so there is no comparing them. But for a lot less money you get a lot more power out the Evo then the BMW.I wish i could have kept the BR350 and still bought the bimmer. No matter what i drive i will never have negative thing to say about the IX,s,they are fantastic cars.
