Fitament Problem, CF Trunk owners help?
I picked up a Seibon CF trunk for my Evo and the latch a little bit too short. I keep messing with the latch on both the trunk and car for almost an hour and half but it doesn't compensate for being short. I don't really want to put my stock trunk back on after spending a lot of time trying to make the CF trunk fit so if anyone with experience can give some hints?
*Update* I just put a bunch of washers on the bottom latch, it closes finally but it fits like doo-doo. Probably going to try again another day to make it fit better.

Find some longer bolts for the trunk latch
Grab a few nuts ( big enough that the trunk bolts can swim through them)
Space the trunk latch using the nuts, be sure to use washers
Flip the latch upside down
The nuts I used were approximately 5/16 of an inch

That's Seibon quality for you...I have their CF trunk and it's pretty yellow compared to my wing
But back on topic, I had the same problem. What I did was fiddle with the 4 bolts connecting the trunk to the arms (2 on each side of course). I found that my trunk was too far back (towards the rear of the car) so I loosened the bolts, pushed the trunk towards the front of the car, tightened the bolts back down, and voila!
I still haven't gotten around to velcro'ing all the cables to the trunk yet and it's pretty annoying having to hold the trunk up
But I still love how it looks

Yes you need to remove both torsion bars. If you leave both in, you're going to send your trunk into orbit when you pop the latch. If you leave only one bar in, you're going to warp your trunk because having one bar puts a lot of pressure on one side of the trunk and not the other. Some people leave one in because it's convenient and rises smoothly but I'd rather not do that and I suggest you don't either. Take them both out.
You don't need to make any modifications...just fiddle around with the bolts and the position of the trunk and you'll eventually get it to fit. Sucks that fitment is like that but I think it's worth it in the end.

i made a carbon fiber yes i said carbon fiber plate extender. i took two peaces of thick ply wood cut it to size of the trunk latch then glued it together and resined it all in. I then sanded it smooth and wrapped it in complete cf then resin sand clear coat. I then lined it up with latch again and drilled two holes. I got longer screws with i think it was 3 washers. I put latch washers cf plate. I installed it like that and the basically pushed my latch outward. Now my viz 10 lb trunk locks. I had to remove the bars of course but now its closes and locks. just not spring up anymore as there is not springs anymore but im cool with that.

It shouldn't be hard at all to fit some gas struts to it but I don't know why it's really necessary. Not having an auto-raise trunk doesn't bother me at all...maybe it does for some though.

With carbon trunks and roofs, you go with a good manufacturer with a good reputation of good fitting parts.
Anything else, like VIS, SEIBON, are all hit or miss. In this case, you truly get what you pay for.
At least get a Robi trunk or something.

making that peace was a joke hommie lol took me like 15 minutes to make it after i came up with the thought in my head and nope my trunk cost me 350 and it weights 10 lbs was a special order and i got it off a repoed evo show car in cali so heck no im not complaining. robi trunk is to light and i heard/told at high speeds like time attack spoiler wiggles violently basically reducing the effect of having a spoiler ill pass doing what i did was not hard just had to come up with a ideal and put it into action

Ummm, not bashing you homie.
If I pay for a trunk or a hood, I don't want instructions on how to install it, nor should I have to do anything out of the ordinary to make it fit. It should fit, like it's supposed to.
Adding things to a body part just to make em fit is not my cup of tea.
Obviously some thing is astray with the part at that point....no?
Like quality control.

Yes, same here. I was not impressed with the Seibon trunck. the only reason i got one was due to some punk shooting my stock one with a bb gun. I think all i did to make it fit was add washers, still the fitment sucks.
I thought i was getting a quality product from a good company Seibon.
