Mitsubishi announces Evo VIII FQ330

I really hope Mitsubishi plans on doing something similar here in the US, maybe not the same power levels, but having the parts fully warranted.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII just gets quicker and quicker; replacing the special edition FQ300 (see link below) is a new model, the 330bhp, 315lb ft FQ330. FQ, by the way, is said to stand for F***ing Quick, and that's no joke - the FQ330, with its turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, will certainly better the FQ300's 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds, though no official performance figures have been released yet.
To get an extra 30bhp, the FQ330 has a supplementary ECU hardwired to the FQ300 engine management system and a revised waste-gate actuator ferrule, which increases turbo boost at peak pressure. The new car costs from £31,999, but if you've just shelled out for a FQ300 and haven't yet modified it yourself, Mitsubishi's Ralliart dealers will upgrade FQ300s for £1500 (plus VAT). The job takes two hours and will be fully warranted. The FQ330 will be distinguished, however, by new black alcantara/leather seats and special badging; each will be individually numbered. FQ330 models will also feature standard Smart Nav satellite navigation.

basically it's a piggyback fuel computer and boost control.. no reason you can't do that yourself for less than 1500 quid. The important lesson to take away from this is that Mitsubishi is confident the engine internals can take the power without modification.

FQ300 uses HKS parts (I/C piping, exhuast) to achive 300BHP, and FQ330 uses fuel management/Boost Controller to achive 330BHP. nothing you can't do yourself. Its the Warranty and the Nav system I lust after.......
