I am also covered by USAA. I've had multiple occasions to have USAA to take care of me(accident, and was broken into), and they do a fantastic job. I would just make sure they understand the situation. Hopefully it all works out for you!

Some insurances will not allow you to buy the car back.

Keep us posted man.

hey man, it sounds like you have a pretty good grasp on reality so i wont even bother saying it sucks that car got hit. thank whoever you thinks upstairs that your wife and soon to be baby are okay. thats most important, cars can always be replaced.

that being said, I would think the insurance would total it. insurance companies seem to have a different eye when it comes to what classifies a car as totaled. Honestly, I would say strip all of the parts off the car, sell them or save them for your next evo. depending on how the insurace does it, if its cheap buy it back and part it, but fixing it would make me feel uncomfortable, because as its been said it will never be the same and the re-sale value will diminish.

if its 10gs, it might be worth it to just take the money and buy a new one, you wont make a fortune off of the parts when you factor in the time to part it out. most importantly, like i said, glad to see your alright. drive carefully.

The car is at the body shop today, should know something by COB. I'm just getting antsy and I am ready to move forward, whatever that means. Oh, and the Malibu rental I am driving sucks after the Evo...

Well, it looks like they are going to repair the car; thus far, damage is $11K (7k parts alone). However, depending on what they find, it may run higher. The body shop said they had an additional 7k to play with before the car is totaled.

What stinks is that the timeline they gave was a month
