Problems with Leaving the Car on Jacks?

I was in another forum reading something, and people were saying there are some bad effects to leaving the car on jacks -

one, it exposes the shock tubes to corrosion??

and they were saying taking the load off the springs is a bad thing as well as it leaves the suspension in full droop position, which may impact the bushings, stretching or deforming them?? I've never heard of this before..

Any ideas?

Leaving it up jacks is better overall for the tires and suspension. Apparently, that's what you're supposed to do if storing it. Also prevents vermin from getting in.

http://www.wikihow.com/Store-a-Car Doesn't say much about the suspension part though.

well, following that logic you should store the car with the suspension bottomed out so non of the shock tube is exposed then. I personally think it would be better on the tires since you wont have to worry about flat spots. Kind of nice if you have an expensive set of tires, imo.
Arent you actually taking the load off the bushings when in full droop?

yeah that's what I thought - it takes the load off.. but some were sayin the droop strains the bushing - I guess it depends on the car's suspension?

What if? you put the jacks on the suspension somehow that way no flat spots on the tires and the suspension is not in full droop. I just leave it on the tires in the garage

I just cant see excessive strain on a suspension component designed to work with the suspensions range of motion. full droop is still within the design so it should not cause damage. Now if it had the droop of a baja racing shock then I could see an oem bushing being stressed out of the norm,.

I personally just jack up the car, take of the wheels and wrap em, and then just let the car sit for the winter

Jack up car so tires are off the ground
Jack up the suspension, place jack stands underneath so there is still a load on the suspension

profit.

I just don't think it's necessary to put a load on the suspension period..

Unless you're storing the car on the beach (high salt conditions) you should be fine. I'm assuming it will be in a garage and relatively free of moisture so you'll be fine.

In terms of the suspension components, you're actually taking a lot of stress off of it.
