What do MR owners do about gauges..

I am curious what MR owners do about the OEM gauges included in the MR edition.

Mainly the boost gauge because it only reads to 22lbs. Is there a different gauge background and then can it calibrated. Because how can you correctly monitor boost above 22lbs without getting a different gauge.

I want to keep the factory cluster. Do I have any options or is a different boost gauge needed?

Thanks in advance.

buy a new gauge that will fit that hole. I've seen it done. The only problem is that it will probably not match the other 2.

Here's what I did - it requires an AEM Tru-Boost though:

My goal was to keep the other 2 gauges untill I either bought AEM ones or something else.

That looks great. I really did not want to buy a new gauge though. Maybe I will only tune it to 22lbs LOL since I wanted a conservative tune anyway.

My gauge cluster is also in the bottom location, I did not do stereo relocation.

I'd look into the stereo relocation - its fun and you pretty much need to do it if you want to run an aftermarket 60mm setup or something. Plus you can see them a little better although I don't see how anyone can look at them when rowing through the gears so dang fast.

You could also look into just a steering column mount and aftermarket gauge. That would run pretty cheap I would think.

I bought a Defi boost gauge and mounted it to the steering column. There really isn't much else you can do as preciously stated.

Is it just me, or is the 42draftdesign page completely blank for Evo8s and Evo9s ?

I have all three 'MR' gauges mounted where the radio spot was. For boost, I have an Apexi-AVCR electronic boost controller that fits right in the sun glasses compartment above. It fits perfectly! It can display boost, revs, etc. So, that's what I use to read my 'vital signs'.

I just use the stock gauge and monitor boost via the MAP while logging. I'm using ECU controlled boost, so it is consistent. If something is up, the stock gauge shows enough to tip me off as I don't need exact data.

Plus, it's fun wrapping the stock gauge in to vacuum on E85. lol.

You could try the Omori Gauges also. They are 45mm which is about 1 3/4" wide. I saw someone else on the forums put it in the "evolution" spot of the gauge cluster, so that should give you a pretty good reference on the size.

Prosport gauges are nice IMO and a little cheaper than the others. They even offer the electrical peak/warning gauges, too.

Though I don't have a MR, I have the factory gauges, as they were stock on MR/RS and optional on all other models. The boost gauge remains linear past its last gradation. It's-also fairly accurate according to the logged MAP sensor. This said, I wouldn't suggest using the factory boost gauge, or any other boost gauge for that matter, to set boost. One's eye just isn't quick enough to catch a spike with any degree of accuracy. You're much better off installing a MAP sensor and logging boost, and using the gauge for a quick reference. Good luck.
