ACD Fluid change question

Im gonna have the dealership do this (obviously) and I was wondering if when they change the ACD fluid, is it necessary that they change any other fluids too at the same time?

Reason I ask is the car is at the mitsu dealer for something else unrelated to the fluids, and I just recently changed all the other fluids myself a few thousand miles ago (rear diff, transfer case, tranny) and I asked the dealership to change JUST the ACD fluid.

So when they do the ACD fluid, can they do just the ACD fluid and they wont have to touch anything else?

Not when you factor in needing the correct, expensive tool to operate the ACD pump to do the change properly lol.

I believe the car gets hooked up to a computer to operate the pump...correct me if Im wrong?

You definitely don't need to buy the mitsu pump to change out the acd fluid. Search the forums for different methods on how

If you're comfortable bleeding your brakes you will have no problem changing the ACD fluid your self and save some money.

I think you need another hand doing it if your going to do it yourself. One person has to be in the car and the other has to be underneath where the bleed valve is.

My questions is why bother replacing the ACD fluid? Unless you're bleeding it after a clutch job or are getting all 3 ACD lights on indicating an error or air bubbles in the system don't waste the time, energy, or money. This isn't a wear fluid like the rest of the drivetrain and isn't hygroscopic like brake fluid.

Ok sweet, that was gonna be my next question! I was curious if it had anything to do with friction/heat resistance like, say the tcase fluid does. Since it doesnt, Ill leave it.

ACD is just ATF(auto trans fluid) and you dont need any special tools to do it, you can pick up a fluid transfer pump for about 15-20bucks and has a simple hand pump with two hoses on each end. we never change it unless we do a clutch job. We typically recc changing entire driveline fluids every 20-30k if DD your car or you see the track regularly even every 10-20k

Ok sweet thanks for the info forcefed!

Ya Im gonna have to bleed it when I do my trans swap/clutch install. So those are the steps basically? I recall someone saying they were able to bypass bleeding the ACD by not removing a certain banjo fitting when doing a clutch swap. Truth??

If you can get the transfer case bolt with a wrench you don't have to remove it. I pulled the banjo and used a socket tho.
