I thought mitsu stopped making the filters that originally came on the Evo and started recommending/selling a lesser one instead. When you search for the filter for an Evo, it now gives a different part number than it used to. There are older threads on here talking about trying to buy up the old ones before they were gone.

Avid user of Mobil 1 Extended and Mobil 1 fiter for a long time. Evo currently has 103k and the head was prestine when I did cams at 99k. I've since moved to Amsoil SSO and EA filter, and again with no complaint. Using SSO becasue of the 0-30 weight for winter, but will prolly run a 10/30 or heavier weight for the heat of summer!

There is no way I would ever use one on my car as they are very cheaply made and also have a super weak bypass spring inside that is about as strong as the spring in a pen
And it is nothing for our cars to see over 100psi of oil pressure.

Yes, I found the same thing, They are absolute garbage like the orange fram filters.

for the people who dont understand what xspsi4 is talking about, he is refering to the spring that is located inside all filters, is that spring is to weak then the valve will go into bypass mode all the time which is not good because your engine oil will not be filtered it would be bypassed around the filtering media.
the bypass valve is also there so when you start the engine on cold starts so there is not a over pressure situation and then no oil gets to the inside components, bypass allows for smooth oil flow until oil gets to operating temp.
Another good point to remember guys is if your filter is too dirty or clogged up by the oil not being changed on time or maybe you went Rallying on a snady or dirt road, the filter will go into bypass and your oil will not be getting filtered at any time.
Toyotas have an issue with their EGR system or whatever is going on is causing the oil to get dirty too soon, so be carefull.
