just to make sure i need the one to adjust the tension on the timing belt for t belt install, not the long threaded tool that removes tension for cam install. thanks again

Are you looking for the tool that adjusts the timing belt tensioner pulley that has the 2 holes in it? If so you really don't have to ever loosen that, it should be set tight enough from the factory unless when you put the new belt on it slips over easily with a ton of slack, which it really shouldn't seeing as how they should be the same length.

Is this the tool your looking for? It's the only site I was able to find one on quickly, it may not be the correct one, but just in general is that the one your asking for?

You could also just use 90degree needle nose pliers and grind down the tips to fit into the holes on the pulley

I'd have to disagree here. Install the new or reused hydraulic tensioner pinned. Then adjust the tensioner pulley until the pin will slide in or out freely. This will require quite a bit of adjusting at the pulley and checking at the hydraulic tensioner. Then, let the car sit for awhile, maybe overnight, and check the pin again. While adjusting, also be aware that the exhaust cam sprocket will put enough pressure on the belt, if not held in place, to cause the belt to jump at the crank sprocket causing the engine to be out of time.

Getting the tension just right insures the hydraulic tensioner is applying the proper tension and has adjustment available as the belt stretches.
