Where in the toyko area are you, I'm stationed at yokota. If you ever get rid of your stock cat I'll take it off your hands, I want to see if an o2 sensor will fit in the evo iv temp sensor bung. Evo VII ecu is a good option I have a VI RS Ecu for sale which can still be reflashed w/ ecuflash if your interested.

dont know how these rumors start. prolly poor tuning leading to failures. lets blame it on the parts..
evo 4 pistons and rods are identical to evo 8. I have compared them with my own eyes. the older 1993 4g63 has been pushed to 650whp on stock internals. why on earth would you believe mitsubishi decided tio install weak parts in the 4 only???
stop the madness

wrong uses same cradle also uses same centre bearing thrust washer arrangement as 1/2/3

actually evo 4 pistons are forged from stock , i know of quiet a few running 350 plus on stock pistons . you can fit 5/6 ecu and inj and map by connecting 1 wire to ecu or evo7 ecu with some wire swaps

I am getting the Evo on the 4th of Feb.. I am waiting until he PCS's so he can still have a car. It's white, it has some hood damage... You probably see it driving around or on yokota ads at one time.. a guy named Nick drives it

your very very lucky it sucks being here in the states cause its hard to get all the evo stuff to covert our mirages... i may be hitting you up for some parts cause im tryin to do an evo 5 build right now, i read this whole thread and didn't see, but how much did you buy the IV for?? if you don't mind me asking, also how likely are you to find evo 5 body panels and seat rails??

Its understood that there is a slightly higher risk of crankwalk in the IV vs the later models because of a design fault that leads to oil starvation. Some IVs mind you, not all. But this leads many to drop in a later (V-VIII) engine in before investing in power mods.
If you can, opt for a later engine before you bring the car over or start putting any real cash in.
