What is your setup now? Do you have the stock halogen setup (9005 bulbs, I think)? Do you have DRLs? If 9005 and no DRLs you should just need everything included in the HID conversion kit.

The conversion kits come with everything you need, they are designed to work in place of the halogen bulbs and the car's current setup. However, the quality of the results will vary.

What? I don't need a how to on an install. I just want to know if I need a HID relay harness. And to the guy who says HID kits come with everything you need no kits come with a HID relay harness.

I said "...If 9005 and no DRLs you should just need everything included in the HID conversion kit..." I've never purchased a HID conversion kit that didn't include everything I needed for installation. I suppose I should have made it more clear that I've never needed to install a relay harness.
You need the ballast for your application (I'm assuming 9005), the associated wiring, and the bulb. You could also readily utilize any double-stick, zip ties, and whatever else that was included in the HID conversion kit.

It is not 9005, it is actually 9006.
You don't need a relay as far as i know, its plug and play but the evo has reverse polarity so you just have to plug it into the ballasts backwards if it doesnt fire up. thats all.
the only thing that is recommended to do is upgrade the fuse to 20-30w iirc.
i'm waiting on my kit from DDMTuning, should be here this week

I always made it a point to install the relay kit on every car I've installed aftermarket HIDs on. Maybe Mitsubishi furnished a good power supply line stock, but when using a higher wattage bulb on most other imports there always seemed to be trouble. I think it is a good idea and only about 15 min more work. No soldering, etc needed. They are plug and play.

I have a HID factory setup in my IX, so I wasn't sure. That makes sense though as the 9005 is usually the highbeam for a 9006 lowbeam. I think I read Sylvania.com wrong in the past.
BTW - do you have pics of your car at night with the lights on? I have never installed 55w HIDs but I bet they are bright!
