Buying an Evo dealer insists it is an MR but I don't think so

Just wanted to let you all know, I was test driving it and the car ended up throwing a rod, oops 
. It's on its way to a dealership in the valley for a new engine and i'm done pursuing this evo lol

According to the Mitsu VIN chart for 2005, the VIN code "H8" is used for Evo and Evo MR:

So in effect the VIN does not differentiate.
