I am in the market for en Evolution and I found out a dealer up here is selling one.

they aid since it has 86 in the vin it was a MR. if anybody has any information on this I would greatly appreciate it

I repeatedly told them it was just an 8 but they refused. Any other way to open thier eyes?

 

Didn't the 8 MRs come with BBS?

 

it's definitely an SSL. What tranny is in it? is the tranny the original tranny? Is the MR placard on the center console? Don't believe the VIN. My Evo comes up in the NHTSA database as being an MR but it is not. I had to send a bunch of evidence to my insurance company (including the original sales sticker) to prove to them that it was not an MR.... Good luck

Definetely not an MR. First off it is a 5 speed. No need to do any more digging. All MRs are 6 speeds. If you do want more features, here are a few...

Bilstein suspension.
Vortex generators on roof.
MR wheels.
Zero lift package (Plastic undertray under engine with brake cooling ducts)

Thats ecactly what I thought. no vortex generator, it has a 5 speed, and no BBSs. I didnt think much about badging because it comes of easily.

Just got off the phone and the dealer apologized, it is indeed no MR. thanks for the reassurance guys.

 

The "86" means the following.

8=(price class) Sport
6=(body type) 4-door sedan

 

F*cking dealers are so ignorant. Dont even know the model of car they are selling. Def not an MR look under fenders and ask them to show you the bilstein suspension (its yellow). Ask them to show you the 6 speed that is exclusive to only the MR edition. And where are the BBS MR wheels. The ones on there are enkie that are on the gsr. It will also say MR on the gear box console too and the floor mats should say MR in red. Unless the previous owner removed all those parts which would be dumb besides the 6 speed which sucks. take a magnet and put it on the roof. if it doesnt attatch its a mr. if it does the dealer is a dumbass. mr has aluminium roof

or you could do what most people do and run a CARFAX

 

i dont even own an evo and i can tell you that is not an MR. dealerships are so retarded. i would work on them w/ the price too...you could prob get it down a couple G's

 

it should really go for 17-18k
