Tp or HFC for inspection

I am looking to finish up my exhaust in the next few days and looking at some of the resonating test pipes they look the same as a hfc. Will those kind pass inspection just as long as they dont drop the exhaust?

Just take the cat shields off another exhaust and have them weld them onto a regular test pipe, problem solved. Most people will never be able to tell it's not a cat if you do that.

In my state, they have a task force of undercover cops that drive around impounded performance cars to see what inspection stations are doing it right and which are not. Inspector will lose his job if he walks an illegal car.

Why dont you just go get an inspection, then put the exhaust on, then before your next inspection, just swap them out. It wont take you that long.

Or just hope that the inspector is a chick and you can shmooz her with your playboy vibe and your badazz AWD turbo charged bomb diggy ride.

Look around for a Evo friendly place or as Bobster said re-install cat-sheild, w/e those are.

or you could just use a HFC which is legal and get the performance while being able to pass inspection.

here in nc they do not put your car on a lift so you will be able to pass inspection without problem as long as you do not have a check engine light on. ive passed inspection twice with a test pipe when i ran one but ive since gone to a high flow cat to quiet the car down

Depends on if they do the sniffer test or not. I would just keep the TP and whenever it's time for inspection, reinstall the stock cat. After you pass, reinstall the TP. Shouldn't be that hard.

In NJ they use a IR thermal sensor to measure the temp of the cat. So If you have Heatshields That don't get hot enough because a Catalytic converter gets hatter than 500F and a test pipe won't you will fail inspection in NJ For tampering and have 48 Hours to fix the car. Also Some inspectors notify the Police but they aren't supposed to. Be in mind that you are tampering with a emissions control device, which is a Federal offense. I know I keep saying in NJ but many states use similar inspection processes and this is a simple test. Also you ECU will see that data from the Rear O2 sesnor is pretty much following the front one and it will illuminate the MIL (CEL) probably with a P0420. And that will give you trouble getting through Emissions inspection too. Your car is newer than 96 so it is OBDII equipped, so the inspecter will hook up and OBDII lead from the Inspection computer to your 16pin DLC. The inspection computer will then request Mode $03, Mode $06, Mode $07, and Mode $09. Also it will request Mode $01 and take a snapshot of your PID list. Not all cars use the same PIDs so this to prevent clean reading. So if you clear the ecu before inspection you will still fail because none of the monitors have run. Basically If you do remove your catalytic converter you can get in some serious trouble and I wouldn't publicly announce my plans on the internet.

I am going to go with the Perrin hfc. i dont feel like messing with it for inspections and the little more hp/tq gain isnt worth it. Plus I want to keep the sound down as close to just catback as I can.

Not sure why someone would be bumping someone else's thread. Anyhow I know in MD they just hook the car up to the OBDII port and check for codes, if you pass that then your good to go. I have a friend that lives in NC and they said their emission's laws aren't to strict there.
