Callin out to the Evo Gods.. Question/Help
This car has came to me as an offer, and I've done some digging and found little information on the vehicle. I was wondering if any of you have seen this car around, know any information that would be imperative, or just general thoughts on the vehicle.
I don't want to get in to this and it just be a gigantic problem car. In all honestly, I would downgrade the turbo if a purchase was made.
Well, What are your thoughts?

*note, I have nothing to do with this forum lol, the link was just sent to me from here*

I don't see the mileage, I could be wrong. I'd like to know what the boost was set at and for how long, who tuned it, how many owners, etc.
Should be a very quick car, I'd just always be weary of hidden costs and downtime depending if it's a dd or not. The mods look decent also, you can recoup some of the cost by selling mods you don't need.

I think I would have the seller take care of fixing that tranny problem and get that pump replaced under the warranty before I'd think of buying it, otherwise that could become a headache with the pump after ownership is transferred. Would definitely be wanting to know how many miles this car has on it.

15 grand for a fully built evo or trade for a honda fit or srt? i am willing to bet there is more problems then he is describing. i mean come on. theres over 10 grand just in parts invested into that car
seems shady to get rid of an evo that cheap, regardless of miles.
the cheapest evo 8 i found online here was 16k with just exhaust and wheels.
thats just too good of a deal for that car imo

Thats why I've been digging around on this forum. I found the previous owner on here, but he doesnt have very many posts. The car has around 44k miles on it. These are all my concerns. Yeah its a great deal, but could be a total dud, and end up costing WAY more in the end. Thats sort of why I was looking around the forums here to see if I could dig up info on the original build. Learned a few lessons in the past the hard way, and trying not to do them again.

Can you be more specific? Headaches I can deal with. Blowing a motor because it wasnt done right is more of my concern.
Rebuilding the tranny isnt that big of a deal to me honestly. We are discussing a trade (no, not for an srt or a fit).

I wouldent do it man, if you are happy with your car now, then you should stick with it. Its too good of a deal to be true. I wouldent take the risk man, would hate to see someone end up with a dud trade.

You answered your own question. Who did the work?

if the tranny is shot you can't test drive the car
which means who knows if the tune is any good or if everything is in good working condition
doesn't mention who tuned it
nor is a 2.3 with a 40r a proven set up
a 40r is commonly run in a drag application with a high revving 2.0
