These days even if an evo says its stock...more then likely its been modified. I almost bought a monster but the guy put it back to stock by the time I saw the add....glad I bought it with a stock motor.......too many unknown variables that make it difficult to troubleshoot if something goes wrong (my car never did start and the previous owner that it was the HKS FCon on the car but it ended up being the wrong immobilizer code). I like knowing whats been done to the car from the ground up.

hey op, if the car is suited up , look legit, put good numbers on dyno, and the price is right, buy it man. Dont buy them bone stock evo, they pretty slow man, and u end up spend tons of money to make it fast.

bone stock evo's are slow?
anyways the major point here is buying one "done up" (as long as it's correctly done) can save you thousands and thousands. However, it's all up to you. I personally would rather start from scratch even if it does cost a little more.

1200 injectors = 350
255 Walbro = 100
FPgreen HTA/BBK Full = 1300 - 1700 (depending on new or used)
FMIC = 500-1000 (Depending on how baller you want to go)
E-85/Meth = 250 (if there is no E85 around you).
Tune = 300-600 (Pump and Meth/E85 Map)
400-450 whp easy for 2800 - 4000 more over the cost of buying an Evo with little to no mods......I'm sure the difference between buying a stock evo and a worked one is way more then 2800-4000 dollars.
Plus you at least know whats been done to the car esp. if you do the mods yourself.

See if you can take the care to Ivey or someone closer to look the car over. They know these cars and will tell you how the car is. You will have to pay them a fee to do so, but the peace of mind will be worth it.

no i personally wouldn't, not a heavily modded evo. maybe if it had a few things already it wouldn't matter but i would want to be able to mod it in my own way part by part , i think that's part of owning an evo ! =)

my friend was looking at this car but the guy never came through, something always came up. THIS IS NO DISRESPECT TO IVEY I KNOW HE'S A GREAT TUNER!! But its not necessarily about the person who tunes the car, its about the person who owns it. He could have been ripping the car everyday for all we know. There was a thread with a yellow evo 8 that was fully built and the guy bought it for, I don't know, 20 something thousand and it was tuned and everything by a major company(not saying who, but it doesnt even reflect on them, it was the driver), drove it home and realized the engine was just a mess, turns out he paid however much for a chassis pretty much. The only thing to say is to LOOK IT OVER AS BEST YOU CAN. Bring other people too and inspect the hell out of it. Good luck
