Maintaining the braking pressure is key, and the hardest to do.
isn't also to maintain the weight forward when downshifting to not unload the suspension before the corner?

Same here. It's one of the easiest pedal setups I've driven. FWIW, I wear 10.5 shoes.

The Evo is probably the easiest car I've ever heel/toe downshifted in. The most difficult is anything VW/Audi. Atleast the ones I've driven, the gas pedal is set very deep.

As far as stabbing the brakes, that takes practice. Nobody nails a perfect, seamless heel/toe downshift their first try. I've been doing it for years and have made a habit of it anytime I'm decelerating. Any time I downshift, it's atleast a rev-match. I cringe at the sound of non-rev-matched downshifts.

I fail at heel-toe... I wear a size 8 and have massive ankle injuries from skateboarding half my life... can't really bend the ankle enough to reach the gas pedal. I sat in my garage for about an hour one day to try and figure out a way to make it work... I could not... however rev matching, no problem

Always heel-toe!!! I have narrow feet but still manage to use my big toe on the brake and lateral aspect of my foot to throttle before letting out the clutch. The Evo does have a firmer accelerator feel compared to other Japanese cars but feels about the same as some Euro cars. Not more difficult that others, just different.

10-10.5 is what i wear, plenty big enough to reach both pedals! just keep at it

not at all!

Just takes technique..

I wear a size 11 shoe and I just roll my foot from left to right (big toe to little toe) from the brake to gas.. It works great. Takes some practice to learn how to blip the throttle without pushing the brake and harder or letting up.. Its important when your not running ABS on the track like me

Give it a try at lower RPMS on the street. Higher RPMs makes it tougher

no one really mentioned... when you are learning , thinner the sole the easier it is as you can feel the pedal alot more... trust me on that. got something thin like puma or converse shoes? maybe try socks only hehe. same reason racing shoes have relatively thin bottom compared to sneakers for better feedback.

once you get it down, you can heel and toe with boots and still succeed

I heel-toe, double clutch, and left foot brake in the EVO whenever I can. Probably one of the easiest cars to do it in IMO.
