Exhaust Silencer
I've read those several posts showing that using a silencer can reduce HP, in some cases by 10+. I installed my silencer this afternoon thanks to a local law enforcement citation. I did a pull before and after the silencer. Same part of road, temp, etc. Timing, Load, Boost were all identical. I also graphed them via the VDR sheet, and it was indeed spot on with my "base" pull.
Is it safe to assume that in my particular case, if Timing, Load & Boost were identical on both pulls, that nothing has changed? I am mildly tuned (cams, mani, meth, etc) and can't believe what I am seeing.
Am I missing something?

Hmmm I don't know much about the mechanics of HP change but I would say that if you can repeat your results more than once it holds weight in the argument of change and you can better conclude what you think good luck

ive never seen no power loss from adding a silencer if you have a 3" straight exhaust with no resonators or cat. depends whats in your exhaust that could effect that. if your exhaust is restrictive than maybe you wouldnt lose that much power

You don't know the half of it. I live in Clermont (small country like place outside Orlando. Nothing better to do than "Fix-It" tickets. Unmarked FHP got gas with me at a gas station. He waits till I pull out of the gas station, then flips his lights on saying my exhaust was illegal. I ask what about it was illegal. Too loud, etc. He says "it just is" and writes me a fix-it ticket.
So I keep the silencer on and $100 later enjoy a very quiet car with what I can tell to be no loss in HP/TQ.

this +1.
its all in your head. jokes...
there is probably a difference. but i cant explain why. air will still be flowing out but less because of the silencer?
i had the greddy tic competition catback. its like a regular tic out there but it doesnt have a resonator. i installed the silencer on not because of cop issues. i kept waking up my poor neighboor everytime i go in/out of our indoor garage. the exhaust resonates through the wall and stuff so yeah.
its a big difference noise-wise before and after. im sure there is a performance difference there somewhere.

I have an AMS TBE w/ cat, so technically my exhaust is legal in NC. I will be switching over to my FL plates asap, I do run a silencer in my exhuast. Only because my car is really loud, and would wake up my wife when I worked dayshift. Otherwise I didnt notice a difference in power.
