I beam Vs. H beam rods
I was reading another thread and saw that people are saying to got to an I-beam rod for really high horsepower applications. I'm doubly confused by this. The stock rods are I-beams, the less expensive upgraded rods are all H-beam designs. However, all the high power stuff is I-beam. In the hot-rod/ V8 world, H-beams are what you switch to to build a stronger engine.
From a theory perspective, what makes I-beam rods more desirable is ultra-high stress situations? And If I-beams are stronger, why do we use H-beams at all?
