Its funny you mention car salesman not knowing much about the cars they sell because I have had the same experience with a few dealerships. Like the one that told me the evo was twin turbo? Most salespeople I have dealt with knew less about the car they are trying to sell me , than I did. If I was selling cars I think I would try to be as informed as possible, but maybe that is why I don't sell cars

Supposed to come out in the US around Feb or March of 2004. Weighs a little less, no A/C, no power locks or windows, no sunroof, no spoiler, no radio, no ABS, no HID headlights, no color matched door handles or mirrors, same HP and TQ numbers. It's only going to be available to us in red or white.

Priced at around $27k. An extra $2k can get you the A/C and power accessories.

The car has a limited slip front differential, unlike the open diff our Evo has. I've heard they are bringing over a total of around 700 of the RS's for sale in the US.

Haha, I was told the same by one salesguy. He was a nice guy though.

Re. the GT3 and Zo6 at Infineon; I found that my Stage I Vishnu equiped Evo was slightly faster than a new Zo6 with basically equal (mid-skill level) drivers at a Laguna Seca track day. Also, my Evo was faster than a 996 (non turbo) that we had along for the track day. BTW, it was really fun with very minimal mods to reel-in the Z06!

I was told by a So Cal Mitsu dealer, who has actually driven the RS, that the 2004's (RS or otherwise) will not be available until Apr/May. The dealers are expecting ordering information (final pricing, options, etc) to be available sometime in January. I'm going to order a RS "Urban Jungle" edition, if that option set is truly is available. By the way, he drove the RS and commented that it did feel quicker than his '03 EVO.

"he drove the RS and commented that it did feel quicker than his '03 EVO. "

That statement is sure to start the flames from current owners.

Expect a lot of, "Bet it doesn't feel faster than mine!" or "No RS is gonna beat my 03 blah blah blah."

Is that MSRP that you have quoted?
If I can find someone to give it to me for invoice I'm guessing it'll come out to $24,500-$25,000 before tax, title and registration

do remember that when motortrend tested the normal evo a while back they got a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds..so i dont really believe that 4.4

i think I read somewhere that the EVO 8 RS will be released in April/May 04. If so I'll wait for its official release before I go reserve one for myself.

I plan on picking one up in sept 04' for my 27th b-day, do you guys think they will hold onto one for me that long, if I leave a deposit on one in April/May?

No way. They want to sell cars as fast as they can. You probably could put a deposit of like 10K and they would still sell it to someone else if they are willing to pay the same price. I have no doubt about it.
