thoughts on my mods/my car for spring/summer 2010

So my car is due out of storage April 1 ... SO EXCITED

Anyways, over the winter i've been saving and getting parts together.

Heres how my car currently stands:

MODS:

Engine:
- ACT Clutch
- ETS LICP
- Helix catless Downpipe
- Helix Testpipe
- Greddy Ti-C Exhaust
- Buschur Cone Filter
- Hallman MBC
- Tune

Interior:
- Orbital Kit/Pioneer Deck
- AEM Wideband
- Defi BF Boost Gauge/Link
- ARC Shift Knob

Exterior/Suspension
- 18x9 Advan RS with 255/40/18 Nitto Invo's
- Megan Racing Coilovers
- Whiteline Bump Steer Bushings
- Whiteline Roll Center Geometry Kit

Soooo adding to that this year, originally I was going to do a turbo upgrade but that kinda worked out a lil too expensive so im doing a little detour and probably next year im gonna do a CRBD BBK turbo (been seeing rave reviews on it)

Engine:
- ETS 3.5" Intercooler
- ETS UICP
- Aquamist HFS-6 meth kit - going to run 50/50 mix due to crappy octane here.
- Grimspeed 3-port Boost Solenoid (buying next pay chq, going to sell the hallman MBC)
- EVO X MAP Sensor (to log boost, buying next pay chq)

Interior:
- 3 gauge dash pod from Rexpeed

Exterior/Suspension:
- Stance GR+ coilovers - (selling the megan racing coilovers)
- Rexpeed Evo 9 CF Lip (RA Style)
- i have "EVOLUTION IX" on the back, im debadging it
- replacing my HID bulbs with 6000k ones. (give a nicer look but not kill my light output)

Im looking to get 400bhp(not whp), im hoping to obtain it.
- your guy's thoughts?
- anything u think i should get to either add or supporting mods?
- Ive heard mixed things about head studs but i dont think its necessary yet! Thoughts? Im at 51,000 miles, i think once i get my timing belt done, ill do it all at once!
- anything else, please feel free to chime in

lol yea instead of the 900 dollar meth kit you can get a turbo upgrade and quit playing games. instead of the evo 9 cf lip you can add that to the 900 to aid in getting a turbo upgrade

true, however the reason i chose this route is b/c if i do the turbo upgrade im still always dealing with an octane issue and meth will help me battle that.

a meth kit adds more possibilities of things going wrong

gst has proven that a bbk is very capable on 91 octane

it's a pump gas turbo

I vote bbk over meth as well

lol map has a lot of great stuff but you can't expect anyone to buy a turbo that has limited to no reviews

especially since they promised results

That isn't what he meant. What he meant was that until it puts out some hard numbers, it is worthless in a comparison against proven turbos. There is a big difference between that and saying it is a waste of metal.

Anyway I too question the logic of going with a meth system while holding off on a turbo that has proven time and again to make great gains on pump gas. If anything, add the meth afterwards if you still aren't happy with the BBK's power. But hey, your car.

There hasn't been any good reviews on the SST that I recall. One of the locals in Philly has it, but I dont want to say anything and start any debates. Nothing against MAP for sure, but they have not been updating consumers on the turbo. I see them pushing their other parts more in actuality. I'm still wondering how they are able to save buyers so much money considerign twhat otehr stock frame turbos go for!

I vote BBK and go from there. If it'll work on California 91 ****, then it'll work on your stuff. What grades of gas do you get up there anyway?

not sure why you are so worried about octane. In Canada you can pull into any Sunoco and get 94 octane at the pump (or 91 from any other gas station), which can easily hold near any turbo upgrade you want to throw at it, at this point in the game.

I tend to agree that the meth kit allows for more to go wrong and isn't the best way to increase your hp (or reliable hp) at this point. In fact, most meth kits don't even come with an error detection system or a way to solve an injection problem in the system.
