lost power? :(

Hey guys, my cars seems to have lost power over night and now feels really slugish this was my setup before hand

JDM evo 8 mr
3" downpipe
3" decat
Perrin intake
HKS J pipe
HKS lower ic pipe

everything was fine with these mods evan unmapped, the car seemed to pull well considering, so anyway the other night i fitted a 3" catback exhaust. took it for a test drive and all was good, seemed to pull alot better. When i hit the motorway i thought i'd give it a lil test through out the rev range to see how it was, 2nd gear was fine and pulled hard, into 3rd and bang!! fuel cut boost spiked to around 1.8 bar. since then there just seems to be nothing really there, like it feels really slow and slugish like its holding back.

any idea's what it could be? the boost guage is still reading boost

u need to do a compression test to see if u crack a piston or ring. start with a compression test. then check to see if u have any leaks in piping systems

Did you try resetting the ecu by pulling the battery?

Just curious, why would you suspect a cracked piston, or ring? Compression test?? I think he should look at the obvious first, like a loose hose, or spark blow out.

I'm going with spark blow out, or because you drive on the wrong side of the road. In that order. lol

i would check for a boost leak. Thats the usual cause of all of a sudden loss of power (and with a boost leak, the guage could still be reading the same amount of pressure)

You can leave the airbox off. Dont drive it hard anymore until u figure out the problem first. Check all those things and get back to us. A tune wouldnt hurt either though.

You can also reset the ECU below/behind the glove box. If you do it that way you do not have to worry about resetting your radio stations or trip meter (if you use it daily that is).

It is the same concept as you remove power form the ECU but it saves you from resetting everything else.

Is your BOV plastic or metal? Have you adjusted your boost any?
