I am having some fun with warranty issues right now...I notice the car started to make a semi-grinding noise in neutral with the clutch released and in 5th and 6th at highway speeds. I think it is an idler gear bearing going bad, or something similar. I took it in to Kerry Mistubishi in Cincinnati on January 25th. I had fun telling the tech and service manager that the transmission has not been modified at least 5 times. Mitsu had to agree to pay for the tear down, they don't find anything "performance related' but decide to replace 5th and 6th and all associated hardware due to the noise it makes. Parts came in last Monday. My car is still sitting at the dealership with the tranny in a million pieces. I am not a happy camper. At least they gave me a Buick for a rental...

Also,
I have had the thermostat replaced under warranty at ~14k.

It's getting warm and I am dying.

Moral of the story: If you want a large part of the car replaced; grenade it.

i don't see how you're having these kinds of problems already at only 25k. I've never had any warranty work done, and never had any problems with the car and i'm almost at 150k.

Is the temp reading halfway on the temp gauge normal or should I have the thermostat checked also?

Idk about other evo 8 owners but my hvac control knobs were impossible to turn and was some issue in the dash that the warrenty covered. Also had them listen to a wierd humming the car was making to find it was a bent axle shaft which they covered under warrenty also.

Starter replaced under warranty at 35k miles

The evo had revolver cams, turbo back exhaust, cone filter, tune, etc.

The tech told me that the bellhousing holes for the starter bolts were completely stripped out (from the idiot who owned it prior to me) and that he had to re-tap them. The guy who owned it before me also installed a ghetto ground strap kit and the Mitsu tech pulled that out and rewired the battery wiring.

I was very impressed that I wasn't given any trouble with this repair, considering what the tech ran into when he was replacing the starter.

Brembo's getting replaced on Friday. I can't believe it was so easy. The dude just called his manager and he said it was cool. I have mods so I thought I would get denied. Litteraly took 5 minutes to check it out, approved and order.

Fresh Brembo sexiness soon to come!

Calipers Paint Pealing = Denied
Transfer Case Whine = Denied
Transmission Leaking = Denied
Clock = Approved

Warranty was well worth it since I have a shiny new clock and panel tools that were left in my car.

This is a good one! My extended warranty company is denying my claim to fix the exhaust leaks around my exhaust manifold (which is covered in my policy) because the car doesn't have a catalytic converter!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I'd love for them to prove to me how that's causing leaks at the manifold! The issue isn't quite dead yet, I still need to talk to a manager about it but right now it's not looking good.
