4.33 qts + oil filter. Overfilling can cause the crank to splash in the oil in the pan and hamper performance. It can also churn up the oil and aerate it, hampering lubrication.

You're not alone

Back to topic. I use a large syringe with a hose attached to it to suck the remaining oil after dripping. There's more or less 100 ml of old oil left after the last drop fell from the oil pan (with front tires on ramps). I prime the filter, pour in 3 quarts plus the remaining oil from priming the filter, lower the car, wait for an hour or so to let the oil settle (with engine off, of course) and fill up to the MAXIMUM level on the dipstick. Less than 5 quarts in all.

No harm in checking for foamiing on the dipstick. TTP Engineering guy prolly knows more than anyone else here and he has the same warning. Just check to be safe..

OP - did you prime the filter? That filter holds a decent amount of oil if you allow it to fill. If adding 5qts on top of that, I'd be a little worried.

^ah, you are probably fine then. 5 straight qts, no bubbles, I think you're gtg. Pix won't ever hurt though.

I;d take the filter off, let the oil drain out then put the filter back. I'm OCD about my oil level though so it's always at the full mark.

^I'd sooner pull my drain plug out a bit. Easier to clean, IMO. I can't stand it when I get oil around the filter.

My Evo doesnt burn oil either. My dip stick always stays at the same level. I usually put in just under 5 quarts and that includes using a new oem filter.
