Should I? (IC question)

Hey!

For a while ago I took the step and bought some parts for the Evo, one of them was an 4" ic & LICP. My plans was to go for a Evogreen and that's the need for a bigger IC.

Now spring is up and the turbo has to wait for next year, I'm going to try the new LICP on the car but here is the question..

Should I mount the 4" IC even though I'll be using stock turbo@ 22-23 psi, this year?

Pros

* Eliminating boost leaks in stock tank?
* Some says they gained some with a bigger IC, better flow perhaps?

Cons

* 4" thick is waay to big for stock turbo - maybe only suffers with bad spoolup?
* It's heavier then the stock IC, I think

Anyone tried just mounting up a 4" IC, and knows if it gains/lacks power or perhaps make the car feel even more front heavy?

Please leave your thoughts and maybe even experience in the matter. Thanks!!

/Best regards, Andy

A 4in Ic, is very big for a stock turbo. Also will a 4in fit behind the stock bumper without triming?

It will fit, since I currently live abroad I'm not using any crash-beam. But yeah, it's big. The question is, should I stay away from it then?

I say just install it, I ran a 4.5" Race IC on my stock turbo because I planned to upgrade just like you, If you trade or sell it now you will lose money now and then have to pay full price if you want to upgrade it again.

I don't think you will notice any front end weight difference. I also have a 4" IC waiting to be installed but I was advised by my tuner that the added flow would need to be compinsated for. I could install it but would have to stay out of WOT runs untill it was reflashed...just gonna wait for the 6262 then install it then

OK! Thank you for all your answers! So far it leans towards actually putting it on and go to my tuner since I'm already going there to fix the cold start But keep the answers coming, it would be nice with more thoughts!

I just installed a new Perrin 3.5" and the weight was substantially heavier than stock, due to the "cast ends".
The pay-off is the turbo is much smoother, rather than hitting so hard.

I run the 4 inch ETS. No trimming needed....crash beam is bolted on. No change in weight and no change in spool up (although this is with my BBK).
