Car has been sitting...couple questions

Alright so my clutch turned to a nice pile of dust around December 9, 2009. It is now almost April 2010. It will be fixed in the next few weeks.

My question is this:

It has had (from what I remember) about 3/4 of a tank of 93 Premium in it for most of that 4 month sit time. It has been started a few times in between but due to some of the other repairs I have been doing it hasn't been started in about...say, 3 to 2.5 months?

Will that cause me problems?

Before it gets fully driveable it will end up having lots done to it. Including a clutch job, all fluids redone, including oil change and antifreeze flush and refill.

But I am mostly concerned about the fuel sitting. Is this ok? Do I have to empty it?

You can empty it or finish filling it up and just stay out of boost for a tank and it shouldnt hurt anything

Top the tank off with fresh gas and stay out of boost until empty. You won't really be able to get on it much with a new clutch anyway.

I would put a can of Seafoam in your tank.

It would run on it - no problem. But stay out of boost cause you might end up with knock otherwise. For storage - either have the tank completely filled up or even better - leave it with like 3 gallons and just go fill it up when you take it out.

Motorcycles, ATV's etc with carburators often gets a real headache when trying to start em up on old fuel.

My X sits for months at a time....(get to drive it every 6 month or so) Fires up and runs just fine. I do stay out of boost for about a day and a half.

You should be fine. Last time I filled my car up was in mid December and it still runs fine. I was just out driving it today and had no issues.

I put my car in storage for a 1year ( Dec 09 ). And will probably start it again around January 2011. I mix the fuel with some kind of fuel treatment / storage to minimize water formation and corrosion in fuel system.

But I will drain it to be on the safe side.

i believe that gasoline will 'sour' after 30+ days. Not sure of what happens, but it can cause problems for both carbs and injectors. That said, I would just drive it.

after a few months your only concerns will be fuel and battery. Drive gently for a while, not only to prevent knock, but also to make sure that the oil cycles thoroughly.
