I wonder what the overall cost is for obtaining SFi certification?

I wonder if this has anything to do with actual safety or Impact just didn't buy the labels from SFI. The release didn't say they were selling untested or un-certified products, it was very specific and said only that they didn't buy the labels from SFI. That makes me think that SFI charges a lot for the labels as some sort of licensing fee and impact made their own to cut them out of the loop.

Imagine that Impact submits a specific helmet to SFI and gets it certified. It passes and they sell them. They sell 10,000 a year but only buy 2,000 stickers from SFI @ $10 each (wild *** guess). Then they get 8,000 made for $0.10 each (another WAG). Nothing to do with safety but certainly defrauding SFI.

Anybody know if the label cost is large compared to the cost of the labels themselves?

Sucks to be Impact right now but if your business depends on a partner for acceptance by your customers then DON'T DEFRAUD THAT PARTNER!.

I don't know if this is what happened but after reading that release 5 times and trying to read between the lines, that is what it looks like happened.
